A two-vehicle crash in northern Vanderburgh County has resulted in serious injuries to two drivers.

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 4:03PM the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Scott Township Fire Department and McCutchanville Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash with injury at E. Volkman Rd and Barton Rd.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies found a 2004 Buick Lesabre and a 2015 Chevrolet pick-up truck wrecked at the intersection. Both drivers were seriously injured. A passenger occupying the pick-up truck was not injured. The driver of the pick-up truck was trapped in the vehicle due to extensive crash damage. Firefighters cut the doors off the vehicle in order to rescue the driver.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Buick Lesabre failed to stop at the stop sign while traveling south on Barton Road. The Buick entered the intersection and collided with a Chevrolet pick-up truck which was traveling west on E. Volkman Rd.

The driver of the pick-up truck is in serious condition and the driver of the Buick is in critical condition. The driver of the Buick was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The investigation will remain open pending toxicology results on both of the drivers.
