Per Vanderburgh County Engineer:
UPDATE:
The closure of the Columbia – Delaware bridge has been extended from April 13, 2020 until May 4, 2020. The closure had to be extended due to the fact that the concrete repairs could not be completed on the bridge piers near Pigeon Creek due to high water in the creek.
Also, beginning on Monday April 13, 2020, 9th Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the Columbia – Delaware bridge. 9th Ave will be open to all businesses that access 9th Ave both north and south of the bridge, but traffic will not be allowed to pass under the bridge. The detour around this closure will be Delaware Street, Wabash Avenue, and Maryland Street. This closure will continue until April 18, 2020.
2/27/20 ORIGINAL NOTICE: In order to complete some of the concrete patching associated with the ongoing repair work currently being done on the piers under the Columbia – Delaware bridge, the bridge will need to be closed for approximately six weeks. This closure will begin on Monday March 2, 2020 and will continue until April 13, 2020. The signed detour route for this closure will be Fulton Avenue, Franklin Street, and St. Joseph Avenue. The closure will begin after 8 a.m. on Monday March 2.
The closure duration is subject to change due to unsuitable weather conditions.
